Elvstrom Sails have come up with a new rig for downwind sailing. For ocean crossing which involve extensive downwind sailing – perhaps tradewind routes, this could offer a great alternative. It effectively operates as twin yankee sails on a single furler and can either be used as a single reaching sail with both plys together or can be used in goose-winging mode and trimmed like twin headsails.
One big advantage of this set-up is that both sails can be furled together.
