Suddenly Alone

Workshop Leader: Chris Brown

In this workshop we will help participants feel more confident in coping with
potential emergencies when sailing short-handed. There are a number of common problems that can arise when sailing short-handed, and the workshop will cover these as well as providing time for discussion of individual concerns. Issues may include:

  • What do you do as the less experienced person on board if the skipper is incapacitated for any reason?
  • What are the key steps you need to take?
  • What would help prevent problems in this situation?

There will be a discussion based on a practical course “Suddenly alone” designed to meet the needs of less experienced sailors who might suddenly find that their skipper is incapacitated through illness or accident, falling overboard etc.
