Keeping a boat abroad

Workshop Leader: Roger Bickerstaff

Keeping a boat abroad can be a short cut to a different cruising ground and enable you to cruise a wider range of locations than is normally possible on a summer cruise. However, it brings with it a range of issues around maintenance and care of the boat. In this workshop we will review the pros and cons of keeping  a yacht abroad, including the formalities (both now and post-Brexit), choosing a cruising area, choosing a suitable marina, assessing the likely costs, the transport implications, and maintenance considerations away from a “home” port.  He will focus on his experiences of keeping a boat in Holland, France and Ireland.
